Jack Harlow is back with a new single, “Just Us,” featuring the ever-popular Doja Cat. After releasing “Set You Free” last month, which marked his first track of 2025, Harlow continues to feed his growing catalog of singles, adding this flirty and fun rap duet to the list. The track follows his previous hits “Tranquillity” and “Hello Miss Johnson,” and it is clear that Harlow is on a mission to keep his name buzzing in the rap game.
“Just Us” stands out with its skittering beats and hypnotic synths that create a chill, dreamy, almost playful backdrop for the collaboration. Doja Cat’s contribution to the track, in particular, stands out. Her verse brings a level of groove and charisma that listeners have come to expect from the versatile artist. She adds a layer of smoothness that helps elevate the song’s overall vibe. Doja’s effortless flow and sultry delivery contrast with Harlow’s laid-back verses, creating a fun, engaging dynamic between the two artists.
However, “Just Us” does have its share of criticisms. While the track’s production is undoubtedly engaging, the flow and rhymes in Harlow’s verses fall flat. The chorus, despite its attempt to be catchy, doesn’t leave a lasting impression, and the beat, while steady, doesn’t evolve much throughout the song.
Accompanying the release is a star-studded music video directed by Neal Farmer. The video features cameos from a diverse mix of celebrities, including Matt Damon, John Mayer, PinkPantheress, Nicholas Braun, Taylor Rooks, Malcolm Todd, and DJ Drama, adding a layer of entertainment. These appearances create a spectacle that helps distract from some of the song’s weaker elements, giving fans more to enjoy than just the track itself.
