Rising indie pop artist MARIS has released her latest single, “Give Me A Sign,” a nostalgic 80s-inspired track that is out now across all platforms. Known for her love of retro sounds, MARIS blends synth-pop with emotional depth, creating a song that captivates from the start.
The track begins with a simple guitar-driven beat, evolving into a sweeping chorus with layers of synths and thick backing vocals. Featuring Caroline Kingsbury, the collaboration adds an ethereal dynamic, elevating the song’s emotional pull.
“Give Me A Sign” explores the vulnerability of waiting for someone to make the first move in a relationship, particularly within the context of queer identities. MARIS reflects on her own experiences growing up in Missoula, Montana, saying, “The potential social ridicule of being gay and making a straight girl feel gross is terrifying.”
Currently, MARIS is on tour with pop artist Maude Latour for the “Sugar Water” US tour, bringing her emotionally-driven music to fans nationwide.
